New collaboration to save millions on energy and water in properties
Press release shared on behalf of our master licensee, IQ Energy Denmark.
PensionDanmark will now have greater insight into the energy and water consumption of its commercial properties. This is part of a strategic collaboration with the technology and energy company IQ Energy. The main goal of the collaboration is to reduce consumption significantly, while simultaneously providing PensionDanmark with better data to report on its ESG goals.
Over 2026, IQ Energy will install the Eniscope energy management system across PensionDanmark’s commercial properties in Denmark. This makes it possible to track very detailed energy consumption patterns for ventilation, cooling systems and lighting, among other things. With the comprehensive monitoring and analysis of energy consumption, energy savings of up to DKK 6 million are expected across the entire business portfolio, which consists of 71 properties.
“PensionDanmark has a clear ambition to not only report on energy consumption and CO2 emissions, but to actually act and make a difference. The collaboration with IQ Energy gives us a flexible system and infrastructure that utilises data and translates it into concrete actions. Lower energy consumption results in both a lower climate footprint, but also lower operating costs. This increases the value of our portfolio and thus creates value for our members’ pension savings,” says Torben Modvig, Property Director at PensionDanmark.
In 2025, IQ Energy has already installed and operated the Eniscope system in 8 of PensionDanmark’s properties. This has saved almost 500,000 KWh of electricity and 3,500 m3 of water – which corresponds to the annual consumption of 100 households.
“We are pleased with the collaboration on PensionDanmark’s properties, which gives us the opportunity to translate data into concrete operations. With detailed data, our analysis tools and many years of experience, we can quickly identify patterns in consumption and optimise operations. The result is savings without negative consequences for comfort and indoor climate – but which is clearly seen in energy and water consumption,” says Rene Nygaard Jensen, CEO, IQ Energy
Strategic Data
PensionDanmark can also use this data strategically in the future. The detailed energy data can serve as a benchmark and provide a more accurate basis for both investments and long-term operations.
“The data gives us a completely new basis for decision-making in maintenance plans, or when we need to assess new properties for the portfolio and plan new construction. Here we can compare the buildings’ energy consumption and use the insights actively when we buy or develop new properties,” says Torben Modvig.
“The real value arises when data is coupled with PensionDanmark’s in-depth knowledge of the individual buildings. Therefore, we are already working on adapting our benchmark models so that PensionDanmark can use data even more tactically and strategically,” says Rene Nygaard Jensen, CEO, IQ Energy.
